What is automated account creation?¶
Automated account creation is the use of scripts, tools or services to register large numbers of accounts with limited manual effort.
Evidential caution: that many similar accounts prove one person created them.
What this means¶
They may have been generated by one service, several customers or compromised devices.
Automation may use:
temporary email;
virtual phone numbers;
solving services;
stolen identities;
device emulation;
residential proxies;
API abuse;
reused templates.

creation times;
device and network patterns;
verification method;
shared payment or recovery details;
later activity;
whether accounts were created for one campaign or resold.

Shared infrastructure or a common creation service can also produce similarity between unrelated users.
Verification services and temporary identifiers may be supplied by third parties. The service operator, customer and final account user may be different people. Preserve the transaction and account chain before attributing creation to the person who later used the account.

Automated creation may be combined with manual control later. One service may register accounts, another may verify them and human operators may then use selected accounts. Creation linkage does not automatically prove common control of all later activity.
