Does flight mode disable every connection?¶

No. Flight mode does not reliably disable every possible communication route on every device.

Evidential caution: that the flight-mode icon proves the device is fully isolated. Wi-Fi or Bluetooth may remain active, be re-enabled automatically or be turned back on while flight mode stays displayed.

What this means¶

A device may also communicate through Ethernet, USB, tethering, a docking station or another connected system.

Near-field communication, location services and some background functions may behave differently depending on the operating system and settings.

The exact effect can vary by device model, software version and user configuration.

Before changing anything, record the existing connection state. Capture mobile signal, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, VPN, cable connections and active remote sessions.

Be cautious about opening settings menus simply to verify every radio. Further interaction may create records or alter the device state.

A device may also reconnect when flight mode is disabled, restarted or brought near a known network. Pending messages, synchronisation or remote-management commands may then arrive.

Remember that reconnecting later may deliver pending messages, deletion commands or synchronised changes.
