Could a device communicate through a cable?

Yes. A device can communicate through a cable even when its wireless connections are disabled.

Evidential caution: that a connected cable is only providing power. USB, Ethernet, docking and specialist cables may carry data, network traffic, commands or authentication.

A charging cable may connect the device to a computer, vehicle, hub or docking station capable of exchanging information.
