Could opening disappearing content consume it?¶

Yes. Single-view or timed content may become inaccessible after access, focus change or expiry and may notify the sender of viewing or capture.

Preserve the viewing conditions first¶

Record account, sender, conversation, preview, timer, warning and device state. Do not tap merely to identify the content.

Consider specialist capture and provider preservation before consuming the opportunity. Screenshots may be blocked, blurred or reported.

If urgent access is justified¶

Record reason, operator, exact opening time, what appeared, duration and what happened afterwards. Avoid switching applications, rotating or locking while visible unless safety requires it.

If it disappears before capture, preserve surrounding messages, identifiers and provider records and state the limitation honestly.
