First Response & Preservation Operational Explainer

What should be preserved from a live messaging conversation?

Preserve the account, participants, conversation type, message order, timestamps and status indicators before navigation or synchronisation changes them.

Capture identity and structure

Record service, handle or number, title, participants, administrators, invitation and whether it is a direct message, group, channel or broadcast.

Capture sender labels, dates, timezone, delivery and read status, reactions, edits, deletion markers, encryption, drafts and disappearing settings. Record attachments and links without opening them.

Preserve the initial position

Take the whole screen before scrolling. If movement is necessary, log each step and distinguish later arrivals or changes from the original view.

Typing, online and call indicators are transient and do not prove personal control. Seek specialist or provider support for volatile or central conversations.

Key takeaway

Preserve message state and participant context as one live record, not merely a collection of visible text bubbles.
