Could a cloud recycle bin or deleted-items folder be volatile?¶

Yes. Retention expiry, account closure, storage rules and other users or administrators can permanently remove deleted cloud items.

Preserve expiry and object identity¶

Record service, account, tenant, item ID, original path, owner, deletion time, size and visible retention or countdown. Identify whether the area is personal, shared, organisational or under a hold.

Do not restore merely to preserve. Restoration can alter location, timestamps, permissions, version and audit history.

Escalate credible loss risk¶

Seek provider or specialist preservation when expiry or permanent deletion is imminent. Record any disappearance and surrounding account activity.

The named account beside an item does not by itself prove who deleted it; audit and session evidence remain necessary.
