What is a log export?¶

A log export is a selected representation copied from a source system into CSV, JSON, XML, text, spreadsheet or report format. It need not contain the complete original dataset.

Production choices shape the file¶

Time ranges, filters, visible columns, account permissions and event selection determine inclusion. Conversion can rename fields, alter timestamps or flatten nested records; spreadsheets can transform dates, long identifiers and leading zeros; PDFs may contain only displayed summaries.

Preserve and document the extraction¶

Record creator, source system and account, export time, period, filters, zone, format, permissions and whether hidden or archived data existed. Preserve the received file before opening or resaving and work from a copy.

Use source definitions and native records to verify significant items, and state clearly where only a screenshot or copied table exists.
