Could an export omit fields or records?¶

Yes. Filtering, visible-column selection, permissions, pagination, row and file limits, retention, collection gaps and format conversion can all omit source content.

Absence has several technical meanings¶

Nested fields may be flattened, arrays shortened, values truncated and unsupported data shown blank. Indexing delay, archives and normalisation can leave source events outside the export. A professional-looking file does not reveal these boundaries.

Test completeness explicitly¶

Preserve export settings, query, columns, total result count, pagination and user permission. Compare its schema with vendor fields and reproduce a sample in the source where possible.

Do not turn absence in the file into absence in the system. Report whether a value was not collected, not retained, not selected, not exported or recorded empty.
