Can several people use the same telephone number?

Yes. A household handset, business line, shared VoIP account or linked messaging session can let several people make or receive communications associated with one number.

One number can reach several access routes

Call forwarding, cloud telephony, linked desktops, shared phones and delegated platforms distribute use across devices and locations. The subscriber may manage billing without performing the relevant action.

Map handsets, SIMs, applications, forwarding and authorised users for the relevant time. In organisations, include shifts, role permissions and call-platform logs.

Attribute every communication separately

Use device and session records, handset possession, location, access logs, witnesses and surrounding content. A number may pass between users during a day or after borrowing, sale or seizure.

Shared availability neither makes attribution impossible nor makes every user responsible. State the number association first and identify the event-specific user through corroboration.

The point to remember

Where one number has several users or endpoints, connect each communication to its actual device, session and operator.
