Could a shared location have been manually selected or manipulated?¶

Yes. A shared point may be manually chosen, technically inaccurate or affected by deliberate interference. Establish how the application obtained the value before treating it as the device's true position.

A precise pin can have an ordinary explanation¶

Many services let a user search for a place, choose a business or move a marker. This allows a meeting point to be sent from anywhere. Even an automatically detected point can drift because satellite visibility, indoor use, network-based positioning and device settings affect accuracy.

Modified software, location-spoofing tools, remote control or supplied test data may also alter what the application receives. Their technical possibility is not proof that they were used in the case.

Identify selection method and corroborate¶

Preserve the message, exact coordinates, place label, feature type, application version, timestamp, device state and relevant location settings. Application artefacts may distinguish a searched or selected point from a device-reported update; specialist interpretation may be needed where manipulation is alleged.

Compare the shared value with device-location history, photographs, network and transport data, surrounding communications and witnesses. Describe the evidence as a shared map point, a device-reported position or a corroborated physical location according to what is established.
