Could leaving a device connected cause evidence to change?¶

Yes. A connected handset continues receiving, synchronising and generating records even when nobody physically touches it.

Normal background activity changes state¶

Messages, notifications, cloud updates, location and usage records may arrive or change. Known Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, vehicles and accessories can reconnect automatically and create records in both systems. This activity is not automatically interference.

Remote users can also intervene¶

Another person may delete content, revoke sessions, change passwords or trigger remote lock or wipe. Record time, battery, networks, open app, notifications and lock state, then assess remote management, suspect awareness and active content.

Connectivity, isolation and power choices should state the reason and observed effect. Background change means the recovery-state snapshot will not remain identical, but it does not create a universal rule to disconnect every phone. Low battery adds a separate access risk.
