Does deleting an app delete its data?¶

It may remove app-specific local storage, but related evidence can remain in shared files, notifications, backups, provider systems and linked devices.

Data occupies several stores¶

Operating system and app design determine whether databases disappear with uninstall. Downloads, photographs, browser records and system logs may remain. Cloud backup can preserve app data for restoration; another device may retain its own copy.

Reinstallation can make provider or backup content reappear, creating a new local state rather than proving continuous presence.

Preserve before testing deletion effects¶

Map what was local, synchronised, provider-held and copied elsewhere. Do not reinstall or restore on the evidential device to see what returns. Use installation history, backups and provider events to establish timing.

Removal may be routine storage management or troubleshooting and does not establish intent to destroy evidence.
