What is cached app data?¶

Cached data is a temporary working copy used to improve speed or offline behaviour. It can preserve useful content but is often generated and removed automatically.

Cache records availability, not necessarily intent¶

Images, previews, thumbnails, maps, account details and web content may enter cache through a feed, incoming notification or background process. Presence can show that the app obtained a representation, but not that the user deliberately saved, opened or understood it.

Establish the app's cache mechanism¶

Cache can survive visible deletion or be cleared while provider records remain. Determine how the app populates and expires it and look for view history, user actions, downloads, message status and provider events.

Avoid claims that a user downloaded content unless the supporting artefact shows that action. Treat cache as a lead whose meaning depends on correlated records.
