Could deleting a message from an app leave evidence elsewhere?¶

Yes. Deletion may affect one interface or synchronise across devices while caches, notifications, attachments, backups, recipients and provider events remain.

Map every copy and event¶

Identify local databases, shared media, linked devices, recipient records and provider content or metadata. App design, account settings and timing determine whether deletion is local or service-wide.

Keep recovery claims narrow¶

Modern encrypted apps may remove local content securely, so recovery is not guaranteed. Preserve relevant sources and consider provider preservation early. Deletion timing can be relevant but does not automatically establish intent.
