Does a delivered status prove the message was read?¶
No. Delivery records a technical destination reached under the service's rules, not human reading or understanding.
Define the provider's delivery event¶
Some platforms mark delivery when the provider accepts a message; others wait for a recipient device. The device may be locked, unattended, shared or one of several linked sessions. Record service, message ID, timestamp and status definition.
Look separately for awareness¶
Read receipts, replies, reactions, notifications, device-use records and subsequent conduct may support access or understanding. Even these require attribution to the person controlling the account or device.
A read receipt is stronger but still limited.
