What is location history?¶

Location history is a stored sequence of coordinates, places, routes or inferred visits associated with a device, app or account over time.

It is constructed, not a perfect diary¶

Operating systems, maps, fitness, photos and cloud accounts can contribute. Settings, permissions, battery, connectivity and provider processing create gaps or inferred groupings. One account history may merge several linked devices.

Preserve source and structure¶

Identify account, source device, record type, time zone, accuracy and whether entries are raw points, calculated routes or inferred visits. Preserve provider history early where alteration is credible. Corroborate movement and establish who carried the relevant device.
