Could a photograph have arrived through an app or cloud service?¶

Yes. Messaging, email, social media, shared albums, backups and synchronisation can place an image on a handset that never captured it.

Gallery appearance can conceal provenance¶

Cloud images may sit beside camera files, and backup restoration can populate a replacement phone. Original camera metadata can survive transfer. Linked devices using the account add other possible sources.

Reconstruct the transfer route¶

Use storage path, app databases, download and message history, cloud events, file times and source-device identifiers. Do not rely on gallery arrangement alone.
