How should I search for email addresses?¶

Search the full address first, then a distinctive local part, domain and linked account fields, while recording the role of each match.

Find useful representations¶

The local part may recur as a username; the domain may expose related services but common domains generate noise. Addresses can be encoded, misspelled or embedded in login strings, URLs, contacts, password managers, notifications and app databases. Test plausible variants only after preserving the trusted exact form.

Interpret the address's role¶

Sender, recipient, signed-in identity, recovery detail, stored contact and text inside a message are different relationships. Link service account IDs, verified numbers, sessions or provider records where control matters. Presence on a phone can show storage or display without proving ownership by its usual user.
