What can browser-history records show?¶
They can show that a browser or embedded web component stored a visit, query, redirect, download or related record; they do not automatically prove deliberate reading.
Artefact type controls meaning¶
A typed URL, history row, open tab, bookmark, cookie, cache and download answer different questions. Preserve the full URL, parameters, title, time, browser and profile. Redirects, previews, security tools, restored tabs and embedded web views may load content without purposeful navigation.
Check origin and sequence¶
Synchronised history can arrive from another signed-in device. Link the record to searches, downloads, screenshots, messages and neighbouring browser events, and establish whether it appears local or cloud-derived. Missing history can reflect private mode, deletion, another app or acquisition limits rather than no activity.
Key takeaway
Describe the specific browser artefact and loading event first; infer intention or attention only from wider, attributed activity.
