The dangerous assumption is that the trail becomes evidentially useless once funds enter the service.
The blockchain may still show the incoming transaction, service interaction, timing, amount, fee and later outgoing activity. Even where direct linkage is weakened, the entry and exit points remain investigative anchors.
A bridge may produce linked events on both source and destination networks.
A mixer may leave patterns, service addresses, timing relationships or later deposits into identifiable exchanges.
Provider records can be especially important. They may link a service interaction to an account, device, support request or later withdrawal.
An exchange, hosted wallet, bridge operator or interface may hold customer accounts, IP addresses, devices, support contacts and internal transaction references.
Seized devices may contain wallet history, copied addresses, browser records, transaction hashes, screenshots or communications.
Messages can show instructions, destination details and intended purpose.
Preserve all entry and exit identifiers, network details, addresses, contract events, amounts, timestamps and analytical notes.
