Could several people operate one bank account?¶
Yes. Joint holders, business users, family members, carers, employees or unauthorised actors can share one account, formally or informally.
Provider records expose available routes¶
Authorised users, additional cards, registered endpoints, sessions, IP-related data, authentication and approvals may distinguish operators. They require context because people can share endpoints and networks, while one person can use several.
Compare disputed activity with usual devices, locations, beneficiaries, amounts and authentication. Communications and witnesses can address permission, instructions and knowledge; device records can identify profiles and available sessions.
Multiple access does not end attribution¶
It means the account-holder name is insufficient. Preserve volatile access history and test each realistic user against the event time. Report account activity where the operator cannot be resolved rather than defaulting to the most obvious holder.
The point to remember
Where an account has several possible users, identify the transaction operator through session, endpoint, authentication and contextual evidence.
