Could CCTV and ATM records show different times?¶

Yes. Independent clocks, time zones and different event definitions can produce valid differences between ATM and CCTV timestamps.

Each system records its own point¶

ATM time may mark authorisation, dispense or completion; footage shows approach, interaction and departure. UTC versus local time, daylight-saving, manual setup and clock drift add offsets.

Align without altering originals¶

Preserve both displayed values and offsets. Ask operators how clocks were set, synchronised and known to drift. Use a visible fixed event such as insertion, receipt or dispense to test alignment.

Create a documented working offset while retaining original evidence. A consistent difference may explain drift; an inconsistent one needs further examination. Report sources and reconciliation rather than forcing footage to an assumed statement time.
