Could one payment relate to several goods or services?¶
Yes. A single payment total can cover a basket, several invoices, subscription components or marketplace sellers. The financial line rarely supplies the full allocation.
Detail remains in sales or accounting systems¶
Merchant, marketplace or recipient records may split items, fees, taxes and beneficiaries. Deliveries can divide between people or addresses, and partial refunds can affect only one component.
Reconcile payment to components¶
Preserve transaction, order and invoice IDs, amount, merchant and time. Obtain itemised order or allocation data and mark confirmed and inferred links.
Do not describe the total as one item or assume all components reached one person. Allocate any loss, refund and benefit according to the underlying records.
