What can a payment-link record prove?

A provider record can prove that a payment request was created and show its recorded lifecycle. It does not automatically prove who controlled the creator account, who opened the link or that value finally reached the intended recipient.

Request status is not the whole payment

Records may show creator account, request ID, amount, currency, description, creation and expiry, recipient and states such as opened, paid, cancelled, refunded or reused. Access details and a linked transaction can connect later events.

Opening differs from paying, and a completed state should be reconciled with the wallet, card, bank or processor event. Creator-entered descriptions are assertions rather than proof of purpose.

Join creation, access and settlement

Preserve the full link, request and status history and every linked transaction ID. Obtain creator-account access, authentication and payout records, then compare the sending message, payer endpoint and onward funds.

State separately what establishes creation, access, completion and final receipt.

The point to remember

Payment-link records establish the provider's request and status; corroboration is needed for the people involved and the final movement of value.
