What is a blockchain explorer?¶

A blockchain explorer presents network data through a searchable website or interface. It is a view of the blockchain, not the authoritative identity of every address or a complete record of provider activity.

Presentation adds interpretation¶

Explorers can show addresses, hashes, assets, fees, blocks, times and confirmation status. Time zones, market values and labels vary, and an “exchange” or “merchant” label may come from third-party analysis rather than the network.

Internal exchange transfers will not appear merely because the service operates on a public chain.

Preserve facts beneath the interface¶

Record complete addresses, hash, network, block, source and access time so the observation can be reproduced. Preserve relevant output through an approved method where necessary; interfaces, labels and bookmarks can change.

Corroborate attribution and finality independently and distinguish protocol data from the explorer's formatting, estimates and labels.
