What records might a cryptocurrency exchange hold?¶
An exchange may hold identity, access, funding, trading, internal-ledger and blockchain records unavailable on the public chain.
Records span customer and value activity¶
Datasets can include verification, contacts and account IDs; endpoints, sessions, authentication and recovery; linked banks, cards and fiat events; trades, fees and internal transfers; and addresses, hashes, assets, networks, tags and status history. Whitelists, support, alerts and restrictions can explain changes.
Connect internal accounts to network events¶
Preserve every known identifier and relevant period. Ask the provider to distinguish customer instructions, ledger entries and on-chain transactions and to map both sides of internal transfers.
Registration does not prove transaction-time use. Report identity, access, trading, ledger movement, blockchain movement and operator separately.
The point to remember
Exchange records bridge the gap between public blockchain activity and the customer accounts and access routes behind it.
