What is a cross-chain transaction?¶
A cross-chain transaction is coordinated value movement involving more than one blockchain. It is normally evidenced by linked events and identifiers, not one hash spanning the entire route.
Services transform value between networks¶
Bridges, exchanges, swaps, custodians or wrapped tokens may lock, burn, transfer, credit or recreate value. Asset contracts, addresses, amounts and timing can differ across confirmation and processing stages.
Map each chain and the connecting mechanism¶
Preserve every network, hash, address, contract, amount, fee, time and bridge or provider reference. Use protocol events and provider records to link stages; proximity and similar value alone do not prove a connection.
Cross-chain activity supports legitimate trading and application use as well as complexity. Report directly observed events separately from the inferred cross-chain link and purpose.
The point to remember
Reconstruct cross-chain movement as separate network events joined by evidenced bridge, exchange or protocol records.
