Could automated trading complicate a transaction trail?¶
Yes. A bot, API, smart contract or exchange rule can turn one configuration decision into many later trades and transfers, including while the user is offline.
Execution time may not be decision time¶
Automation can create rapid orders, rebalancing, arbitrage and small conversions. Relevant records include API keys and permissions, creation and revocation, source IP-related data, bot software, strategy settings, logs, order and trade IDs, fees and sessions.
High volume alone does not prove automation, and automation does not remove human responsibility.
Identify who configured and controlled it¶
Ask whether activity came from web, application, API or integration. Preserve the rule and permission history and connect execution to the earlier human decision, account controller and intended strategy.
Report automated execution separately from configuration, authorisation and knowledge.
The point to remember
Determine whether transactions were automated and attribute the system's configuration and control rather than treating every execution as a manual act.
