What can payment records prove about an account?¶
They can prove provider-recorded account activity and value movement, including status and counterparties. They do not automatically prove the registered customer operated, understood or benefited from it.
Account association is a reliable but limited fact¶
Records can establish account ID, customer relationship, reference, amount, currency, time, beneficiary, funding and whether an event was pending, completed, reversed, refunded or withdrawn. The account can still be shared, compromised or used as an intermediary.
Add evidence of practical control¶
Obtain endpoints, sessions, IP-related data, authentication, changes and beneficiary creation and compare them with device evidence, communications and normal use. A receipt into the account does not by itself prove beneficial ownership.
State what the provider associated with the account and identify separately what supports operator, knowledge and benefit.
The point to remember
Use payment records for account activity and fund flow, then establish personal control and benefit through independent evidence.
