What is a webpage?¶

A webpage is one particular resource presented through a browser. It is not necessarily the whole website.

Why the exact page matters¶

A site may contain different accounts, listings, payment pages, forms or compromised areas. Record the complete URL, not just the domain.

Webpages can change or display different content depending on time, location, account or device. Embedded adverts, media and payment tools may come from other providers.

Preserve the observation¶

Keep the URL, date, time and time zone; how the page was reached; sign-in state; visible content; and any interaction that changed it. A screenshot can help but may omit the route, source or complete context.
