The registrant is the person or organisation recorded as holding the domain registration. It is a defined role, not automatically the site operator or offender.

The practical distinction¶

The registrant may be a business, employee, agency, developer, parent company or privacy service. Details may be false, stale or supplied for someone else. Compare registration account, payment, access, hosting, publishing, communications and device evidence.
