Does a page on a platform identify the platform as the publisher?¶

Not necessarily. The platform supplies the service and may apply its branding, while a customer controls the page, listing, profile or uploaded content.

Distinguish platform and user functions¶

The platform may design the page layout, host the files, process payments and moderate content. A user account may choose the words, images, price and publication time. Some content can also be inserted by advertising networks or automated feeds.

Think of a market hall: the operator provides the building and rules, while individual traders control their stalls.

Identify the object type and publishing mechanism. Is it an official platform page, a seller listing, a forum post, a customer review or an advertisement? That determines which account and records matter.

Platform evidence may include account creation, permissions, revision history, logins, payments, moderation and complaint handling. These records can separate what the platform generated from what a user submitted.

Do not assume the platform authored user content, or that it had knowledge merely because the content appeared on its infrastructure. Equally, its moderation and notification records may show what it later knew or did.
