Who controls a seller page, profile or storefront?

Control may be divided between the account owner, business staff, agency, contractor and platform. The visible seller name does not reveal that division.

Map permissions, actions and money

Account records may identify the verified owner. Permission history can show administrators, staff roles and invited users. Listing and message logs show which account performed particular actions. Payout settings identify where proceeds were directed.

One person may manage stock, another answer customers and another control banking. Automated tools may update prices or listings through an API.

A storefront is like a physical shop with separate keys for the front door, stockroom and till. Each key provides different control.

Start with the relevant event: creation of a listing, change of payment details, message to a customer or withdrawal of funds. Match the timestamp to the platform session, authentication, device and communications.

Password resets, new administrators or unusual login locations may indicate takeover. Staff turnover and agency arrangements can also explain changes without a change in visible branding.

The point to remember

Attribute the specific permission, action and payment flow; do not treat the display name as proof of who controlled every part of the storefront.
